Frequently asked questions

Can Google Forms mark the quiz automatically?

Yes. Enable quiz mode in Google Forms settings (Settings → Make this a quiz). Add an answer key to multiple choice, true/false, and short answer questions. Scores are calculated and can be shown to students immediately or after review.

Can I set a time limit for the quiz?

Google Forms does not have a built-in timer. Add-ons like Extended Forms or Formly add time limits and auto-submit. For a simple approach, set a fixed start and end time and close the form after the deadline.

Can I shuffle the question order for each student?

Yes. In Google Forms settings, enable 'Shuffle question order' under the Presentation tab. This randomises the order of questions for each student, reducing copying.

How do I handle late submissions?

Google Forms timestamps each submission. In the linked Google Sheet, add a 'Submitted On Time' column with a formula comparing the submission timestamp against your deadline. Late submissions can be marked accordingly.

Can students view their score and see which questions they got wrong?

Yes. In quiz mode, enable 'Release grades immediately' under Responses settings. You can also enable 'Let respondents see correct answers' after submission so students can review their mistakes.

Can I prevent students from seeing each other's answers?

Each student's responses are private and stored separately in Google Sheets. Students can only see their own submission. If you've enabled 'See summary charts', turn that off in Google Forms settings to prevent students from seeing aggregate data.
